地面是一個支持性的存在，「一切都在其上」，是「一直存在的東西」的基準。因此，我們將地面視為一個穩定的表面，自現代以來成為可供建設的基底，被調教成光滑、乾淨的狀態。然而，地面同時也是地球的一個厚層，是自然界的一部分——泥土、水分、真菌與微生物生活於此，也承載著漫長歷史的積累。
該項目從兩個方面對地面做出解讀:1.建設和構造的過程；2.挖掘和發現的行為。
設計試圖揭示地面既是公共活動的基礎設施，也是一種自然與歷史的紀錄。藉由抬高地面來改變廣場的平整狀態，地形延續階梯語彙，形成一個緩坡式的開放劇場空間，重新劃定廣場的使用界線，創造可供民眾停留與表演的舞台，於其下則暴露出原始、野生的層次，揭露一處經常被忽略的空間，地面下層成為一個充滿想像力和驚喜的表面，面向博物館的大廳。
木質階梯下方，聚氨酯發泡材創造出丘陵般的地景：行進動線上使用較硬的發泡材，休憩與停留區則改用柔軟材質，對應不同的身體狀態。地形裏布置數個音響，播放自然聲音採樣。來訪者在其間遊走、聆聽，距離音響的遠近獲得不同平衡所組織的聲音地圖。乳膠材質拓印了台灣的地貌紋理，從石頭上剝離的皮膚質地、微起伏的表面，將人們置於時空之外。如進入洞穴一般，我們在此重新體驗身體以及與他人的靠近。微微透光的乳膠材質，在白天與夜晚帶來不同的光影表現，增加兩層地面的互動。
「被掀起的地面」與下方地形共同圍合出一塊記憶與感知的空間，打開了新的關係和探索可能性。
This project explores the spatial and metaphorical conditions of ground.
Ground is where everything rests—flattened by modernity, yet layered with soil, moisture, fungi, and time. It is both a platform for building and a site of excavation and discovery.
By lifting the plaza surface, the design transforms flatness into a sloped public stage above and a wild terrain below. A gentle amphitheater redefines how the space is used.
Beneath the wooden steps, foam hills shift in firmness—firm for walking, soft for resting. Embedded speakers play natural sounds, forming a moving soundscape. Latex casts of Taiwan’s terrain recreate textures that place the body outside time—like entering a cavern. Light filters through the translucent surface, changing from day to night.
Between the raised and the unearthed lies a space for memory, intimacy, and imaginative encounter.
